Onlookers usually mistake these horrors' appearance on the battlefield for a cool fog rolling across land. As it closes in, though, the observer soon realizes their folly. Dimly light faces writhe within the mists, limbs twisting and grasping for anything in its path. The embrace of these vile spirits draws the very heat from their victims' bodies, bypassing most earthly armors and leaving them helpless to escape the numbing cold that quickly engulfs them. Will O' Wights particulary drawn to the inventions of man, supplying large sources of warmth for them to extinguish.
